Child-with-Counter

We have a unique opportunity at Maitland Farm to move beyond the four classroom walls and use many areas of our 5 acre campus for our explorations. Each class has flexible porch space in which to spread out activities such as art, science, woodworking, block building and small groups.

Our picnic shelter also serves as an outdoor classroom, and many a nature walk culminates with sharing treasured finds on the picnic tables.

The meadow, the nature garden, the barnyard and the vegetable gardens all provide opportunities to enrich the meaning and understanding of concepts such as measurement, classification and growth cycles. But most importantly, they provide rich sensory experiences so that the children can develop a love and respect for all living things.

Our playgrounds offer a variety of possibilities for climbing, carrying, pushing, pulling, throwing, movement experiences to build strength, coordination, and confidence, as well as just plain FUN!
